EPCES participation in multi-products trade fair EXPOCOMER held from March 11 to 14, 2015 at Panama

2015-16:

Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India has approved participation of EPCES in multi-products trade fair EXPOCOMER held from March 11th to 14, 2015 at Atlapa Convention Centre, Panama.

Accordingly, Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES) along with its members have participated in the multi-products trade fair EXPOCOMER to be held from March 11th to 14, 2015 at Atlapa Convention Centre, Panama. In this regard, approval has been obtained and a copy of the same is enclosed at Flag ‘C’. On behalf of the Council, Shri Madhup Vyas, IAS, DG, EPCES and Shri Anand Giri, Deputy Director, EPCES have participated in the said fair at Panama.

The objectives of EPCES participation is to provide an opportunity to EOUs, SEZ Units and SEZ Developers of India for direct interaction with businessmen, buyers and investors of Latin American Countries for increasing exports from the country and for attracting foreign investments under SEZ Scheme of India.

During the fair, a large number of foreign buyers, businessmen, including wholesalers, importers, distributors, medium & major retailers visited the fair and showed interest in Indian products. EPCES Open House Meet of EOUs and SEZs held on December 12, 2014 at Bangalore

2014-15:

Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES) had organized an Open House Meet of EOUs and SEZs on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Bangalore for resolving the issues of EOUs and SEZs and to take feedback from members for resolving their issues. The Open House Meet was attended by Shri Madhup Vyas, Director (SEZs), Ministry of Commerce & Industry & DG, EPCES, Dr.(Mrs.) Safeena, A.N., Development Commissioner, Cochin SEZ, Shri P.C.Nambiar, Chairman, EPCES, Shri Rahul Gupta, Vice-Chairman, EPCES, Dr.Manje Gowda, Regional Chairman, EPCES, Shri Naresh Sharma, Convenor, Panel on Finance and Budget, Shri Anand Giri, Deputy Director, EPCES and senior officers of Central & State Government and a number of EOUs and SEZs. 2012-13:
- EPCES Participates in Multi-products trade fair 5th Africa Export & Import Fair 2012 held from 15th to 18th June, 2012 at Nairobi, Kenya.
 
    Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES) along with its members had participated in Multi-products trade fair 5th Africa Export & Import Fair 2012 held from 15th to 18th June, 2012 at Nairobi, Kenya. The exhibition was an exclusive product & service trade exhibition for multi industry sectors. The objective of the exhibition was to promote & access to local, regional and global markets for intra-regional trade exchange. Over 80 exhibitors from different business invitation markets including India, Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda had participated.
 
    EPCES along with its members and 62 Indian exporting companies had attended the fair. In this fair more than 30 sectors and product lines were represented from agriculture product, agro processing, plastics and packaging, healthcare and pharmaceutical leather products, electronics clothing and textiles, energy including oil and gas, live stock and poultry farming, tourism, cosmetics, jewellery and handicrafts automotive parts to road construction materials, mining etc.

- EPCES organizes Buyer Seller Meet of EOUs, SEZ Units and SEZ Developers held from 25th to 27th June, 2012 at Jakarta and Batam, Indonesia.
 
    Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES), in association with Embassy of India in Jakarta has organised Buyer-Seller Meets at Jakarta and Batam from 25th to 27th June, 2012. On this occasion, an EPCES Delegation led by Shri Ajay Nijhawan, Convenor, EPCES Panel on SEZ Developers. Shri Sanjeet Singh, Director, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Mrs.Reshma Lakhani, Joint Development Commissioner, SEEPZ SEZ, Shri P.S. Raman, Dy.Development Commissioner, SEEPZ SEZ and member EOUs, SEZ Units and SEZ Developers visited Indonesia and attended the meetings at Jakarta and Batam. The objectives of Delegation were:  
  • To increase trade and economic cooperation between businessmen, exporters of India and Indonesia.
  • To provide an opportunity to EOUs, SEZ Units and SEZ Developers of India for direct interaction with businessmen, buyers and investors of Indonesia.
  • To publicise the concept of SEZ Scheme of India abroad by providing an opportunity to SEZ Developers of India to project the facilities and incentives available in their SEZs in India.
  • Indian exporters would get an opportunity to project their products and services before foreign businessmen and investors.  
    On this occasion, a “Seminar on Trade and Investment Opportunities in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in India” was also organized on 25th June, 2012. The Seminar was attended by foreign businessmen, investors and buyers apart from member EOUs, SEZ Units and SEZ Developers.
 
    During the programme, Mr Mustofa Widjaja, Chairman of Batam Indonesia Free zone Authority (BIFZA), Shri Sanjeet Singh, Director, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Mrs.Reshma Lakhani, Joint Development Commissioner, SEEPZ SEZ addressed the participants. On this occasion, powerpoint presentations on SEZs were also made by Shri Ajay Nijhawan, Leader of the Delegation and Convenor, EPCES Panel on SEZ Developers and M. Rassal, Managing Director, Forefront Solutions & Consultancies (P) Ltd. The member EOUs, SEZ Units and SEZ Developers had held very fruitful discussions with foreign businessmen, investors and buyers.

2010-11:
 
- Visit of High Powered IT Delegation led by Shri Rakesh Singh, Additional Secretary, Department of Information Technology to Taiwan from 30.5.10 to 3.6.10.
    A high powered IT Delegation, led by Shri Rakesh Singh, Additional Secretary, Department of Electronics & Information Technology, visited Taiwan from 30th May, 2010 to 3rd June, 2010 for attracting investments into India specifically in SEZs in India and meeting industrial units and hardware manufacturing units in Taiwan. The delegation included representatives of Department of Information Technology, Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs, Department of Science & Technology, State Government of Gujarat, Enfield Infrastructure SEZ, Reliance Haryana SEZ, Moser Baer India Ltd., HCL, Seer Akademy Pvt.Ltd.
 
    The inaugural function was attended by Shri Rakesh Singh, Additional Secretary, Department of Information Technology. The members of the delegation visited fair on 1.6.2010 and also met foreign businessmen and investors. On this occasion, the Indian delegation had fruitful discussions with foreign businessmen and investors.
 
    EPCES, in association with Department of Information Technology and India Taipei Association in Taiwan, organized a One Day Seminar on “Growing with India: Indian IT Industry and Opportunities for Investment” on 2nd June, 2010 at Taipei, Taiwan. While welcoming the participants, Shri Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Director General, India Taipei Association informed that today’s seminar will give an opportunity to Indian delegation to have a direct interaction with Taiwanese businessmen and investors. He stated that discussions at the seminar will bring new opportunities for attracting investments in SEZs in India.
 
    Addressing the participants, Shri Rakesh Singh, Additional Secretary, Department of Information Technology said that the visit of the IT delegation to Taiwan is to strengthen understanding and to seek further cooperation between Taiwan and India. Shri Rakesh Singh also proposed to increase international trade of IT products such as PCs, networking components and memory products in the future.
 
    He further informed that India is the seventh-largest country by geographical area and the second-most populous country with over 1.1 billion people. The purchasing power of India is currently ranked No.4, and Indian consumers purchase more than one million personal computers on average every year. In 2009, India’s nominal GDP stood at US$1.243 trillion, which makes it the eleventh-largest economy in the world. With an average annual GDP growth rate of 5.8% for the past two decades, the economy is among the fastest growing in the world.
 
    Mr.Hung Mou Shion, Chairman of TECO Group mentioned that India has made tremendous progress in IT sector and particularly appreciated the efforts of Tata Group for introducing Nano car. Dr.Ke Jey Shen, President, Instiute for Information Technology requested Taiwanese businessmen and investors to take advantage of this opportunity and interact with members of Indian delegation, who are in Taiwan and have come from India, which is seventh largest country in area in the world and second-most populous country with over 1.1 billion people. This will help in increasing trade between the two countries.
 
    Shri R.K. Sonthalia, Chairman, EPCES mentioned that the visit of Indian Delegation to Taiwan is very useful. He said that the entire delegation visited a number of companies/industrial units in Taiwan and some of the Taiwanese companies have shown their interest to make investments in SEZs in India. He further said that the Indian delegation was very impressed with the progress made by Taiwanese companies in IT sector.
 
    During the visit of the delegation, a mini seminar on “Cooperation in E-Governance” was organized by India Taipei Association. Shri Ravi Saxena, Principal Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat highlighted about the progress made by IT Sector in India. He further mentioned that a high powered delegation from State of Gujarat will be visiting Taiwan shortly. 
 
 - EPCES participates in multi-products trade fair “Expocomer” held from 23rd to 26th March, 2011 at Panama  
 
EPCES, alongwith its following members, participated in the “Expocomer” held from March 23 to 26, 2011 at Panama:

 The fair was organized by Camara de Comercio, Industrias y Agricultura de Panama, Panama. Expocomer is a multi-products trade fair where a wide range of goods and services from food to textiles and high technology and heavy equipment have been presented. Panama is a gateway to Latin American countries.
 
     In this fair, 35 countries including India, China, Brazil, Mexico, Taiwan, Columbia and Korea and 500 business organizations from all over the world participated in exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated in Panama by Hon’ble President of Panama Mr.Recardo Martinelli and his Costa Rican counterpart Mr.Laura Chinchilla on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Mr.Carlos Rodriguez, President of the Organising Committee informed that direct contributions to the country’s economy during the duration of the fair would be reaching $ 30 million and commercial transactions are expected to exceed $ 120 million and the fair was the most important business event in the Panama. India was represented by 50 Indian exporting companies by displaying their products during exhibition.

     The Indian Pavilion was inaugurated by Mr.Carlos Rodriguez, President, Camara de Comercio, Industrias y Agricultura de Panama, Panama. H.E. Mr.Vishnu Hade, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Panama mentioned that 50 Indian companies from different parts of India are participating in the fair and they have displayed their products. He said that participation of Indian companies would increase exports to Latin American countries. On this occasion, H.E. Mr.Vishnu Hade, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Panama also released Brochure on Panama brought out by the Council indicating messages received from Ambassadors of India and Panama and company profiles of EPCES member participants and list of importers and departmental stores in Panama.  
 
2009-10:
 
- EPCES participated in 9th SAARC Trade Fair 2009 held from 11th to 14th September 2009 at Thimphu, Bhutan.
  
    In order to promote trade with Bhutan, EPCES, along with its members, participated in multi-products exhibition 9th SAARC Trade Fair 2009 to be held from 11th to 14th September 2009 at Thimphu, Bhutan. The main objective of EPCES participation in the fair was to encourage and promote Indian exports, marketing arrangements with business partners in Bhutan and building a strong image of Indian products. - EPCES participates in trade fair “Expocomer” held from 3rd to 6th March, 2010 at Panama  
    Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES) along with its member EOUs/SEZ Units from different parts of the country participated in EXPOCOMER multi trade fair exhibition at Panama (LAC) held from 03.03.10 to 06.03.10 at Panama. 21 countries, 556 business organizations, 150 trade missions and more than 3500 buyers from all over the world participated in exhibition.

    The exhibition was inaugurated in Panama in a traditional way in the presence of Mr.Francis Co Flores former President of Republic of El Salvador, Hon’ble Mr.Adolfo Linares Franco, President of the Camara de Comercio, Industry & Agriculture of Panama, H.E. Mr.Roberto Henriquez, Minister of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Revered Archbishop of Panama Monsenor Jose Dimas Cedeno, and distinguishes invitees. More than 500 participants from 21 countries attended the inauguration ceremony.

    H.E. Mr.Roberto Henriquez, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of Panama and H.E. Mr.Vishnu Hade, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Panama inaugurated the India Pavilion at the fair.
 
-High Commission of India in Singapore and EPCES focused on Investments opportunities in SEZ Scheme of India to Singapore investors – 23.3.2010 at Singapore
 
    High Commission of India in Singapore, in association with Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES), organized a Seminar on “Opportunities available in SEZ Sector in India” on March 23, 2010 at Hotel Shangri La, Singapore. The Seminar was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, Government of Singapore. The Seminar was attended by 28 SEZ developers, including state government of Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, IL&FS. More than 200 businessmen and investors from Singapore were present at the Seminar.
 
    While addressing the gathering at the seminar, H.E. Mr.Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry informed that Asia’s first Export Processing Zone was set up in India in Kandla, Gujarat in 1965. The economic growth in India is set to top 8.5% this year. The country is eager to draw businesses to its SEZs to further spur industrial development and export promotion. Mr.Lim complimented the efforts of High Commission of India in Singapore and EPCES in organizing the Seminar. His Excellency informed that Changi Airports International’s link with Indian company Bengal Aerotropolis Projects to build India’s first Aerotropolis – an integrated airport, industrial, logistics and IT hub – as an example of a highly successful partnership.
 
    His Excellency also informed that Singapore companies have a lot to offer for India’s Special Economic Zones. Singapore had a wealth of experience in this area, having been involved in developments such as the Suzhou Industrial Park in China, the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park and the Batam, Bintan and Karimun Industrial Parks in Indonesia. ITC Corp’s Jurong India had also made its mark on the master planning and industrial development of over 80 million sq.ft. of land across 18 cities in India, building integrated townships, industrial parks and urban infrastructure.
 
    Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Mr.T.C.A. Raghavan, High Commissioner of India, Singapore mentioned that SEZs in India offer an attractive way for foreign investors to be a part of a growing economy. The object of the Seminar is to present before Singapore businesses and investors the opportunities that exist in SEZs in India. This sector has strong fundamentals and has been growing robustly, as can be seen from the fact that exports grew 127% in the first 9 months of the present financial year. The aim of the Seminar is to provide a platform to catalyse a creative interface between investors and opportunities. The spread of SEZs is considerable – IT services, manufacturing and logistics, among various sectors.  
 
    The SEZ Developers from different parts of the country highlighted the facilities available in their SEZs. The presentations made by them were appreciated by foreign businessmen and investors.
 
    Concluding the deliberations at the Seminar, Shri R.K. Sonthalia, Chairman, EPCES thanked H.E. Mr. T.C.A. Raghavan, High Commissioner of India in Singapore for providing this opportunity to highlight the opportunities available in SEZs in India. He also thanked H.E. Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore for sparing his valuable time to inaugurate the seminar and addressing the participants. He informed the participants that SEZ Scheme in India has got tremendous response from International investors and domestic investors, specifically after operationalization of SEZ Act and Rules in February 2006. He said that today’s seminar will provide a clear picture to investors in Singapore about the SEZ Scheme in India and will enable them to make investment decisions in Indian SEZs.
